The 2009–10 CHL season was the league’s 18th. It ran from October 16, 2009 to March 20, 2010, followed by the Ray Miron President’s Cup playoffs. The 2010 CHL All-Star Game was played on January 13, 2010 at the Laredo Entertainment Center.

The Rapid City Rush won the championship, defeating the Allen Americans in double overtime on May 4, 2010.

Kevin Ulanski of the Colorado Eagles was both the season MVP and the top scorer.

The league added two teams, the Allen Americans and Missouri Mavericks. The New Mexico Scorpions and Oklahoma City Blazers folded, and the Rocky Mountain Rage suspended operations with hopes of returning in 2010–11.
