2009 Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach
The 2009 Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach took place on April 19, 2009, as the second round of the 2009 IndyCar Series. The race was held on the 1.968-mile (3.167 km) street course in Long Beach, California, and lasted 85 laps (about 167.28 miles).
Weather was sunny and hot, around 96°F. Will Power qualified on pole with a 1:09.7107 lap, while Ryan Briscoe posted the fastest race lap at 1:11.2582 on lap 82.
Dario Franchitti won the race, his first victory since the 2007 championship, helped by an early full-course caution and a pit stop made the lap before. Will Power finished second, and Tony Kanaan finished third.
This race marked the first Long Beach IndyCar event after the Champ Car World Series merged with IndyCar.
