1st Valley Bank is a private thrift bank in the Philippines. It is based in Cagayan de Oro City, Misamis Oriental, and serves communities in Visayas and Mindanao. The bank mainly helps small and medium businesses and farmers by financing farming and fishing, including coconut, corn, rice, and fish production. It also provides capital and other banking services in partnership with the Department of Agriculture to support small-scale farming and agri-aqua ventures, as part of the government’s agricultural development program. There is also a special loan program for salaried workers and micro-entrepreneurs.

History: 1st Valley Bank originated from two rural banks — Rural Bank of Kapatagan Valley and Rural Bank of Sinacaban in Misamis Occidental. Kapatagan Valley was incorporated on September 11, 1956, and began operating on November 24, 1956, as the Philippines’ 75th rural bank, with an initial capital of ₱40,000. It joined the Rural Bankers Association of the Philippines on April 5, 1957. In 2004, it consolidated with Rural Bank of Sinacaban. In August 2005, the SEC issued the consolidated bank’s incorporation certificate, and the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas granted authority to operate on September 21, 2005. In 2007, the bank became one of several rural banks to offer wireless ATMs.

Today: The bank has 86 branches and 60 ATMs (2024 data), about ₱14.88 billion in assets, and around 789 employees. The chairman is Atty. Nicolas J. Lim, and the president and CEO is Nicolette Lim-Gica. The headquarters are at 1VB Business Center, Vamenta Boulevard corner Lirio Street, Carmen, Cagayan de Oro City. Website: 1stvalleybank.com.ph
