1999 SWAC men's basketball tournament
The 1999 SWAC men’s basketball tournament took place March 3–5, 1999. Eight teams competed. The quarterfinals were held at the higher-seeded teams’ home arenas, while the semifinals and final were played at the F. G. Clark Activity Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Alcorn State defeated Southern 89–83 in the championship game to win the title, their 5th SWAC championship, led by coach Davey Whitney. By winning, Alcorn State earned the conference’s automatic bid to the 1999 NCAA tournament as the No. 15 seed in the West Region.
