Elections to West Lothian District Council were held on 7 May 1992. All 24 seats were up for grabs, with 13 seats needed for a majority.

Result
- SNP: 11 seats (up 4), 43.0% of the vote (19,502)
- Labour: 10 seats (down 4), 38.5% of the vote (17,448)
- Conservative: 2 seats (up 2), 12.2% of the vote (5,501)
- Independent: 1 seat (down 1), 4.1% of the vote (1,815)

After the election, the council composition was: SNP 11, Labour 10, Conservative 2, Independent 1.
