He then carved out a career in non-league football with Willenhall Town, Bromsgrove Rovers and Kidderminster Harriers.
At Kidderminster, he became a fans’ favourite and helped the club win the Conference title in 1999–2000, earning promotion to the Football League. He made 243 appearances for Kidderminster, scoring 13 goals, before leaving in 2004 to pursue semi-professional football.
Smith joined Tamworth in 2004, where he captained the side and helped them reach the FA Cup third round for the first time in the club’s history. He stayed with Tamworth for several years, before moving on to Chasetown in 2008 and then Rushall Olympic in 2009, where he again captained the team and helped them win promotion in 2011.
After his playing days, Adie Smith served as assistant manager at Stafford Town during the 2013–14 season and continued to be involved in football into the mid-2010s.
