1902 LSU Tigers football team
The 1902 LSU Tigers football team represented LSU in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Association season. W. S. Borland was in his second year as head coach, and Henry E. Landry was the captain. LSU played home games at State Field. The Tigers went 6–1 overall and 5–1 in the SIAA, earning a share of the conference title with Clemson.
This seven-game schedule was LSU’s longest to date, with five road games and only two at home.
Key results:
- Texas in San Antonio: LSU upset Texas 4–0, using speed and teamwork.
- Auburn: LSU won 5–0; Landry scored the only touchdown.
- Alabama: LSU finished the season with an 11–0 victory; Landry scored both touchdowns.
- Vanderbilt: LSU lost 27–5; Vanderbilt outplayed LSU.
Landry also starred in the notable season-close win over Alabama, scoring both touchdowns.
