Opposite Worlds
Opposite Worlds is an American reality game show that aired on Syfy in 2014. It was based on the Chilean series Mundos Opuestos. In the show, strangers are divided into two teams and live in a single house split into two worlds: a luxurious "Future" side and a primitive "Past" side, separated by a glass wall. Each week, teams compete in a Worldly Challenge to decide which world they will live in. The winning team chooses which world to stay in. Two contestants from the losing team become "protected" for the week, and viewers vote to pick one protected contestant to become the "Decider." The Decider then selects one player from each team to face off in "The Duel of Destiny," with the loser eliminated from the game. The house features an electronic voice named Athena, and the show is hosted by Luke Tipple. It also included a live Wednesday elimination and a Twitter Popularity Index that rewarded or punished contestants based on popularity. Twelve contestants started, with four more revealed as potential entrants and two selected by the public to join later. The winner earned $100,000 after six weeks. Opposite Worlds premiered January 21, 2014, and ended February 26, 2014, after one season. It also aired in Canada on Space. The series was canceled after its first season.
