187 He Wrote is the second studio album by American rapper Spice 1. It was released on September 28, 1993, by Jive Records. The album is in the gangsta rap style.
Many producers worked on the project, including E-A-Ski, Ant Banks, Prodeje, Too $hort, MC Eiht, Jonny Z, DJ Xtra Large, Mentally Blunted, with Chaz Hayes and 187 Fac as executive producers. The album features guest appearances from Bo$$, MC Eiht, G-Nut, E-40, Havoc & Prodeje, and Nuttin’ Nyce, among others.
187 He Wrote was a commercial success. It peaked at number 10 on the Billboard 200 and reached number 1 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart in the United States. The album was certified Gold by the RIAA on November 30, 1993, for selling 500,000 copies in the U.S.
The lead single was Dumpin’ Em in Ditches, which reached No. 34 on the Dance Singles Sales chart and No. 79 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. The second single, The Murda Show, reached No. 50 on the Hot Rap Songs chart.
The album has 15 tracks and runs about 61 minutes. The title track, 187 He Wrote, is one of the standout songs, along with other collaborations and contributions from the listed producers and guests.
