155th Division (Dai-hyakugojūgo Shidan) was an infantry division of the Imperial Japanese Army. Nicknamed the Land Protection Division (Godo Heidan), it was formed on 28 February 1945 in Zentsūji, Kagawa as a square division. It was part of a batch of 16 divisions created at that time (numbers 140th–160th) and assigned to the 55th Army. The division consisted of about 10,000 men and had its garrison and headquarters in Kami, Kōchi. From May 5, 1945, until Japan’s surrender on August 15, 1945, it built coastal defenses around Kami, Kōchi and did not engage in any fighting.
