Xanthorrhoea acaulis is a grasstree from New South Wales, Australia. It usually has no trunk, or only a small trunk up to about 30 cm tall. It can branch underground and may have several crowns. Its leaves are greyish to bluish-green, narrow and flat, about 1.8 mm wide and 1 mm thick. The flowering stalk (scape) is 25–45 cm long and 8–12 mm in diameter. The flower spike on top is 10–25 cm long and 2.5–3.4 cm in diameter. This species grows west of the Great Dividing Range, from Narrabri and Pilliga in the north to Grenfell in the south, mainly on sandy soils in dry sclerophyll forests.
