We Stand Tall
We Stand Tall is a 1990 music video made by the Church of Scientology. It features many Scientologists, including the church’s leader David Miscavige. The video opens with a choir singing the title song, and several church executives are shown in the front and second rows. The lineup includes Shelly Miscavige, Ray Mithoff, Marc Yager, Mark Ingber, Mike Rinder, David Miscavige, Heber Jentzsch, Greg Wilhere, Mark Rathbun, and Guillaume Lesevre. Rinder and Jentzsch appear in the second row, while former Sea Org member Mark Fisher is visible in the third row and later left the church.
The video also shows Dianetics sessions, Volunteer Ministers handing out The Way to Happiness books, clips of L. Ron Hubbard teaching and using the E-meter, and appearances by Scientology celebrities like John Travolta. It includes footage of church properties such as Saint Hill Manor, clips from 1988 events announcing OT VIII, a new Mark Super VII E-Meter, and the christening of the Freewinds ship.
In 2015, Saturday Night Live parodied the video after the Going Clear documentary. The pre-recorded sketch presents a music video from 1990, called Always Believe, for a fictional and legally distinct organization called Neurotology. The parody version on YouTube adds notes about what happened to the participants, many of whom are said to have left the church or died, and many others are listed as missing. The notes reference Shelly Miscavige, whom some say is missing and others say may be imprisoned.
