WMFS-FM
WMFS-FM (92.9 FM) is a Bartlett, Tennessee-based sports radio station serving the Memphis area. It’s branded ESPN 92-9, airs English-language sports programming, and features ESPN Radio on its HD2 subchannel. The station is owned by Audacy, Inc. and is the Memphis flagship for the NBA’s Memphis Grizzlies. Studios are in Southeast Memphis and the transmitter is in Northeast Memphis.
Launched in 1995 as Solid Rock 92.9 MFS! by Belz Broadcasting, the station later became 93X under Infinity/CBS and then joined Entercom (now Audacy) in 2006. The first song on air was Rock You Like a Hurricane by the Scorpions. In 2009 WMFS-FM switched to a sports format, simulcasting WMFS 680 AM, and became the Grizzlies flagship around 2011–12.
