Vreeland Homestead is a historic stone house at 216 Chestnut Street in Nutley, Essex County, New Jersey. The oldest part was built around 1751 from brownstone quarried nearby, and a two-story wooden wing was added in the 1800s.

History and ownership
The house is thought to have been built after the death of Bastien van Giesen (around 1751) for his son Hendrick van Giesen. It later passed to Abraham van Giesen, who sold it to Captain Abraham Speer in 1783. Speer soon sold it to his brother-in-law John M. Vreeland. The property remained in the Vreeland family until 1909. In 1912 it was leased to the Woman’s Club of Nutley, which bought the property in 1923. Nutley Township purchased it in 2012, and it is now operated by the Nutley Historical Society.

Description and significance
The oldest section is brownstone, with a two-story frame wing added in the 1800s. The Vreeland Homestead was documented by the Historic American Buildings Survey in 1936. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on October 14, 1994 for its architectural significance and is also listed on the New Jersey Register of Historic Places (designated March 14, 1994).
