Vito Colonna
Vito Colonna, born in Italy, is a retired Italian‑American soccer player and coach. He played in the American Soccer League for many seasons and later coached for at least one season. He attended Cleveland State University and played on the soccer team from 1968 to 1971. He left the Vikings with several school records, including the career scoring mark of 65 goals, the single-season record of 22 goals, and 33 assists. He earned Honorable Mention All-American as a junior and was inducted into the Cleveland State Athletic Hall of Fame on February 6, 1983.
Colonna began his professional career with the Cleveland Stars in 1972, a team that was renamed the Cleveland Cobras in 1974. He stayed with the Cobras through 1978. He returned in 1981 as a player-coach, but the Cobras folded after that season. In the mid-1970s, he was a key goal scorer: 15 goals in 1975 (leading the team and third in the league), 9 goals in 1976, and 10 goals in 1977 (tied for sixth in the league).
