Vishnu Lutchmeenaraidoo
Vishnu Lutchmeenaraidoo, whose full name is Seetanah Lutchmeenaraidoo, was born on 24 May 1944 in Mauritius. He is an economist and a politician from the Militant Socialist Movement. He studied in Mauritius and France, earning an MBA at Aix-Marseilles University and a postgraduate qualification in Export Marketing in Marseille. He has three children.
In politics, Lutchmeenaraidoo served as a member of Parliament for Riviere des Anguilles and Souillac from 1982 to 1991, and as Minister of Finance from 1983 to 1990, with an honorary deputy prime minister title granted in 1986. He later returned to Parliament for Piton and Rivière du Rempart from 2014 to 2019, and was Minister of Finance and Economic Development from 15 December 2014 to 14 March 2016. He then served as Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and International Trade from 14 March 2016 to 21 March 2019, before resigning.
