Vesdun is a small rural commune in the Cher department in central France’s Centre-Val de Loire region. It covers about 149 square kilometers and has around 540 residents. The area includes a village and many hamlets, set among farms with streams and lakes, about 64 kilometers south of Bourges at the junction of the D4 and D67 roads. Vesdun borders the Allier department to the south. It is one of seven places that claim to be the geographical centre of France (when coastal islands are included). The mayor for 2020–2026 is Gilles Pointereau. The land lies at elevations between 219 and 367 meters above sea level.
