Vaux (band)
Vaux, originally named Eiffel, was a six‑member alternative rock/post‑hardcore band from Denver, Colorado. They formed in 1997, released a self‑made 7" single “To Write A Symphony” in 1998, and after touring the East Coast for two years, signed with Undecided Records. Their debut album Audiblenarcotic came out in 2000 and did well on college radio, earning them a spot on the 2001 Warped Tour. In July 2002, they changed their name to Vaux for legal reasons. That year they moved to Volcom Entertainment and released the EP On Life; Living, followed by the full‑length There Must Be Some Way to Stop Them in 2003. The album received strong reviews, and Alternative Press named them one of 100 Bands to Watch. They also toured with Thrice, My Chemical Romance, Coheed and Cambria, and The Used.
In January 2004 Vaux signed with Lava Records (Atlantic) and released the Plague Music EP on Equal Vision. Their major‑label debut, Beyond Virtue, Beyond Vice, was planned for November 8, 2005, but Lava president Jason Flom was fired in October and the band’s management quit; they were dropped from Atlantic. After six months they regained control of the album masters and released it themselves via Outlook Records, selling it on their last headlining tour and through their webstore. On August 22, 2006, their song “Are You With Me” was the iTunes Single of the Week and later appeared in the 2010 film From Paris With Love. Citing lost momentum, the band split in 2007, with their final show on July 28, 2007 at the Bluebird Theater in Denver.
