Prince Ali bin Al Hussein (born 23 December 1975 in Amman, Jordan) is a Jordanian prince, the third son of King Hussein and Queen Alia, and the younger half-brother of King Abdullah II. He is part of the Hashemite royal family and is seen as a descendant of the Islamic prophet Muhammad.

Married to Rym Brahimi since 2004, he has two children: Princess Jalila and Prince Abdullah. He studied in Jordan, then in the United Kingdom and the United States, finishing at Salisbury School in Connecticut in 1993, where he was active in wrestling. He speaks Arabic, English and Circassian. In 1998 he undertook a famous horseback journey to the Caucasus to raise awareness for the Circassian diaspora.

Prince Ali has held several public roles. He was commander of King Abdullah II’s Special Security in the Royal Guards from 1999 to 2008, and later established and led Jordan’s National Centre for Security and Crisis Management. He is the president of the Jordan Football Association and founder/president of the West Asian Football Federation, which has grown to 13 member countries. He holds the rank of brigadier in the Jordanian Armed Forces.

In football, Prince Ali ran for FIFA President in 2015 after Sepp Blatter’s resignation and again in 2016 after Blatter’s departure. He served as FIFA vice president representing Asia after winning a 2011 election. He helped lift FIFA’s hijab ban in women’s football and called for the Garcia Report to be published. In 2012 he founded the Asian Football Development Programme (AFDP), later expanded as AFDP Global in 2018, to promote football development and social projects across Asia and the Middle East.
