Kaushala Prasad Mishra is an Indian scientist known for his work in radiation biology. He was born in Allahabad (now Prayagraj), Uttar Pradesh. He earned an M.Sc. in Chemistry from the University of Allahabad in 1968 and a Ph.D. in Biophysics from Gujarat University in 1979. He was part of the 12th batch of the BARC Training School in Nuclear Science and Technology (Chemistry stream).

Mishra began his career at the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) in 1969 as a Scientific Officer. He conducted research on molecular radiobiology, oxidative stress, and radiation-induced cellular damage. He later became Head of the Radiation Biology and Health Sciences Division at BARC and retired in 2006 as Scientific Officer H+.

After retirement, he served as Vice Chancellor of Nehru Gram Bharati University in Prayagraj from 2010 to 2014. He has been a visiting professor at many institutions in Japan, the USA, Germany, Russia, France, and China, including a stint as Distinguished Visiting Professor at Hiroshima University.

Mishra founded the Society for Radiation Research (SRR) and served as president of the Asian Association for Radiation Research (AARR). He has published over 350 articles and edited seven books on radiation biology, and he has mentored 51 doctoral students.

He has contributed to national science policy as a member of the National Disaster Management Authority’s core group for nuclear and chemical disaster preparedness. He is Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Radiation and Cancer Research and serves on the editorial boards of several journals, including the International Journal of Radiation Biology and the World Journal of Radiology.

Awards he has received include the Homi J. Bhabha Memorial Award, the AARR Award, and the Prof. S.N. Ghosh Memorial Award.
