Vadim Schechtman
Vadim V. Schechtman (born June 8, 1954) is a Russian mathematician who teaches in Toulouse, France.
Education and career
- He earned his PhD in 1979 at Moscow State University under Evgeny Golod.
- In the 1980s he worked at Moscow State University, in the 1990s at Stony Brook University, and he is currently a professor at Paul Sabatier University (Toulouse III).
Research
- Schechtman works in algebraic geometry, quantum groups, and mathematical physics.
- He is known for work in motivic cohomology, hypergeometric solutions, and vertex algebras.
- He has collaborated with notable mathematicians such as Alexander Beilinson and Alexander Varchenko.
- He gave an Invited Speaker talk at the International Congress of Mathematicians in Beijing in 2002 on vertex algebras attached to algebraic varieties.
