Al Geneina District
Al Geneina is a district in West Darfur state, Sudan. In 2008, its population was 252,744. On January 16, 2021, fighting between Masalit people and Arab nomads in Al Geneina District left 84 dead and 160 wounded, including soldiers. The clashes came about two weeks after the United Nations withdrew its peacekeepers from the region, ending 13 years of presence there.
