Ulrum is a village in the Dutch province of Groningen, in the Het Hogeland municipality. The name first appears in the 11th century as Uluringhem. The village sits on two small hills: on the western hill is the Romano-Gothic church from the late 12th century, and on the eastern hill used to stand the Asingaborg castle. Ulrum used to be a busy place with many trades and small shops, but today farming is the main activity. It was its own municipality until 1990, when it merged with Eenrum, Kloosterburen and Leens. The new municipality was initially called Ulrum, but was renamed De Marne in 1992. In 2021 Ulrum had about 1,305 residents and covered 28.48 square kilometers, at an elevation of about 3.4 meters above sea level.
