Rambo Rajkumar
Rambo Rajkumar, born Rajkumar, was an Indian stunt director and action choreographer. He was born on 21 October 1956 in Tamil Nadu, India, and died on 26 April 2009 in Hyderabad after a heart attack while filming. He was 52.
His father, T. K. Paramasivam, also worked in the stunt department. Rajkumar worked on more than 500 films in all Indian languages and was well known for his close work with Mithun Chakraborty. He earned the nickname “Rambo” for his realistic close‑combat style, reminiscent of Sylvester Stallone’s Rambo.
Many top stunt masters learned from or worked with him, including Kanal Kannan, Stun Siva, Anal Arasu, Peter Hein, Stunt Silva, Thalapathy Dinesh, Jaguar Thangam, Action Prakash, Supreme Sundar, and Ram Laxman.
Posthumous releases that featured his work include Aayirathil Oruvan and Aadukalam.
Family life: He had a son, Navakant Rambo Rajkumar, who is an associate stunt director and short film maker, and two daughters, R.K. Navalakshmi (a radio jockey) and R.K. Navadevi (a costume designer). His sisters have choreographed dance sequences in Anurag Kashyap’s films Mukkabaaz and Manmarziyaan.
The name Rambo Rajkumar also influenced the title of a 2013 film, R… Rajkumar, directed by Prabhu Deva and starring Shahid Kapoor. His legacy lives on through his striking action style and the many professionals he inspired.
