Leo P. Kadanoff Prize
The Leo P. Kadanoff Prize is awarded yearly by the American Physical Society for outstanding work in statistical or nonlinear physics, including theory, experiments, or simulations. It was established in 2018 by the APS Topical Group on Statistical and Nonlinear Physics as a tribute to Leo P. Kadanoff, who was elected to the National Academy of Sciences in 1978, co-won the 1980 Wolf Prize in Physics, and served as APS president in 2007–2008. The prize includes $10,000, a medal, a certificate, and limited travel funds to the APS meeting where the award is announced. It began with contributions from Kadanoff’s family, friends, and colleagues and is now fully funded by a large anonymous gift.
