USS LST-79 was a United States Navy LST-1 class tank landing ship built for World War II. It was laid down on February 28, 1943, by the Jeffersonville Boat and Machine Co. in Jeffersonville, Indiana, launched on May 8, 1943, and commissioned on July 7, 1943. The ship was transferred to the Royal Navy and commissioned there as LST-79 on July 17, 1943, joining the 9th LST Flotilla. On September 30, 1943, off Ajaccio Harbor, Corsica, she was sunk by a German Henschel Hs 293 guided missile. LST-79 was struck from the Navy Register on October 11, 1943.
