Passing Stranger is the debut album by British singer-songwriter Scott Matthews. It was first released on 13 March 2006 and recorded at Artisan Studio in Birmingham, England. The music mixes folk rock, indie folk and blues and runs about 50 minutes. The album was initially issued by San Remo Records and later re-released by Island Records in October 2006. The singles from the album are “Elusive,” “Dream Song” and “Passing Stranger.”

Matthews won the Ivor Novello Award for Best Song Lyrically and Musically for “Elusive.” After the win, a deluxe edition of the album was released on 25 June 2007. The original album features ten full-length songs and seven short instrumental pieces, all written by Matthews. In 2007 a two-disc deluxe edition appeared with new recordings on disc 2, produced by John Leckie and featuring a string quartet. The album was produced by Jon Cotton and Scott Matthews.
