UDP-4-amino-4,6-dideoxy-N-acetyl-alpha-D-glucosamine transaminase
UDP-4-amino-4,6-dideoxy-N-acetyl-alpha-D-glucosamine transaminase (EC 2.6.1.91; gene pglE) is an enzyme that transfers an amino group from UDP-4-amino-4,6-dideoxy-N-acetyl-alpha-D-glucosamine to 2-oxoglutarate. Its systematic name is UDP-4-amino-4,6-dideoxy-N-acetyl-alpha-D-glucosamine:2-oxoglutarate aminotransferase. The enzyme is pyridoxal phosphate (PLP) dependent, meaning it uses PLP as a cofactor to carry out the amino transfer. It plays a role in the metabolism of amino sugars in bacteria.
