Tuffbach (Inn)
The Tuffbach, also known locally as the Weissbach, is a short river in Tyrol, Austria, and a tributary of the Inn. It starts in the Lepsius-Stollen, a gallery in Hötting, Innsbruck, at about 720 meters above sea level. It flows south past Engländergrab to the Hoher Weg, where it merges with the Inn near the old Hungerburg railway bridge. The river is about 1.5 kilometers long and lies entirely within Innsbruck.
A notable feature is the Weissbach Fall, where the water drops 12 meters. It can be heard and seen from the nearby street. A small hotel beside the fall has built a power plant that uses the generated electricity for local needs. Canals around the basin can divert water in emergencies. The water quality is usually grade B. Near the mouth the flow is very fast, up to about 120 km/h. The Tuffbach contributes to the Inn and the Danube watershed.
