Better Half VW
Better Half VW is an American aircraft engine designed by Leonard Milholland of Brookshire, Texas, in 1993 for ultralight airplanes. It is sold as construction plans for amateurs. The engine is a two-cylinder, four-stroke, horizontally opposed, air‑cooled, direct‑drive gasoline engine based on the Volkswagen air-cooled design. It uses coil ignition and produces about 30 hp (22 kW). Unlike some other half‑VW builds, it does not require cutting the engine block in half; instead the two rear cylinders are blanked off and the pistons removed. Over time the design has been refined to reduce complexity and increase reliability. It has been used in the Milholland Legal Eagle ultralight aircraft.
