Misuzulu Sinqobile kaZwelithini is the King of the Zulu Nation and the monarch of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. He began his reign on 7 May 2021 after his father, King Goodwill Zwelithini kaBhekuzulu, died. The traditional coronation happened later, and the government officially recognized him as king on 29 October 2022.

Misuzulu was born on 23 September 1974 in Hlabisa, KwaZulu-Natal. He completed his schooling in Eswatini, his mother’s home country, and attended St. Charles College in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa. A royal hunt was held in August 2022 as part of the celebrations surrounding his ascent to the throne.

He has multiple wives, including Ntokozo Mayisela (his first wife), Nozizwe Mulela, Nomzamo Myeni, and Sihle Mdluli. He has two children with Ntokozo Mayisela and another child with amaMpondo royalty Princess Wezizwe Sigcau.

There was a court challenge over the late king’s will, but in March 2022 the High Court dismissed the challenge to Misuzulu’s succession, allowing the process to move forward.
