Tropical Nights is a 1928 American silent drama directed by Elmer Clifton. The screenplay by Bennett Cohen and Harry Carr is based on Jack London’s story A Raid on the Oyster Pirates. It was produced and distributed by Tiffany Pictures.

Plot
On a South Seas island, brothers Harvey and Jim run a pearl-diving boat. Harvey tries to flirt with Mary Hale, a stranded opera singer working in a waterfront dive, and is knocked out by her. Stavnow robs Harvey of his pearls and kills him when Harvey wakes and fights back. Mary meets Jim and falls in love, but feels guilty, thinking she caused Harvey’s death.

Censorship
