Andrea Heinemann Simon (born Andrea Heinemann; March 24, 1909 – February 15, 1994) was an American civil rights activist and philanthropist, and the mother of singer Carly Simon. She grew up in Philadelphia, the second child of Ofelia "Elma Marie" Oliete and Frederick Adolph Heinemann. Her father was German, and her mother was born in Cuba with mixed heritage. She married Richard L. Simon, co-founder of Simon & Schuster, on August 3, 1934, while working as a receptionist for the company. They lived in the Riverdale area of the Bronx and had four children, including Carly. Andrea was active in civil rights and community work, serving on the Riverdale Mental Health Association board for more than 30 years and on the Riverdale chapter of the United Nations Association. She died of lung cancer at her Riverdale home on February 15, 1994, at age 84. Her granddaughter is Sally Taylor.
