- Nazareth Hospital, Philadelphia, PA — 205 beds: emergency services, heart care, diagnostics, wound healing; affiliated with Penn Cardiac Care.
- Saint Francis Healthcare, Wilmington, DE — 146 beds: emergency care, cardiology, cancer care, family medicine, women’s health.
- St. Mary Medical Center, Langhorne, PA — part of the Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic system; provides general hospital services (the hospital has a long history dating back to the 19th/early 20th century).
Programs and services
- Mercy LIFE (Living Independence for the Elderly): a Program of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) serving seniors in South and North Philadelphia and offering primary care, nursing, medications, dental care, mental health services, therapies, and daily care at Adult Day Centers and in the community.
- Mercy Home Health: in Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, and Philadelphia counties; provides home health nursing, rehabilitation, palliative and other in-home services to tens of thousands of people.
- Other related services: Mercy LIFE centers, home health programs, a physician network, and an accountable care organization.
- Gateway Health Plan is also affiliated with the system to support comprehensive care.
History highlights
- The Sisters of Mercy founded Misericordia Hospital (Mercy Philadelphia) in 1918; Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital in Darby opened in the early 1930s.
- Saint Francis Healthcare was started by the Sisters of Saint Francis of Philadelphia in 1924.
- Nazareth Hospital opened in 1940 in Northeast Philadelphia.
- St. Mary Medical Center in Langhorne began serving the region in the 19th/20th century and joined the Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic system after the 2018 consolidation.
- In 2020, Mercy Philadelphia’s inpatient facilities were winded down, and Penn Medicine and Public Health Management Corp took over Mercy Philadelphia’s inpatient operations, with Mercy Senior Center staying with Trinity Health. The facility became part of Penn Medicine’s network (Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania – Cedar Avenue).
