Fright Night (video game)
Fright Night is a horror video game released in December 1988 by Microdeal for the Amiga. It’s based on the Fright Night movie.
In the game you play as Jerry Dandridge and explore a mansion to find victims to feed on. Your goal is to kill all the mansion’s inhabitants while avoiding crucifixes that are thrown at you. When you’ve drained all the victims, the next level opens.
You can use a coffin to regain health, but you must reach it before dawn or you’ll get a Game Over. Be careful not to touch any noxious blood, which can also end your game.
Reception was mixed. Some critics praised the humor, visuals, and sound, while others criticized the gameplay as shallow or felt the game lacked originality. Tom Malcom noted the humor as very junior high, Mark Higham liked the unusual idea of playing the villain and the visuals, Andy Storer found the gameplay weak despite good presentation, Duncan Evans praised the graphics and sound but called the gameplay shallow, and Amiga User International criticized it for originality.
