They represented Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio (now Case Western Reserve University) during the 1948 college football season. They played in the Mid-American Conference (MAC).
Record: 1–8–1 overall, 1–4 in the MAC.
Head coach: Mike Scarry (first season). He was a former Cleveland Browns player who learned from Paul Brown. Assistants were Dick Luther and Lou Zontini.
Home stadium: League Park.
Notable moments: On October 23, they tied Kent State 14–14 in a game that was televised in the Cleveland–Akron area, Ohio’s first intercollegiate football broadcast. They also lost to rival Case Tech for the first time since 1927, ending a 17-game Red Cats winning streak.
Ranking: No. 220 in the final Litkenhous Difference by Score ratings for 1948.
