Trinity Area School District
Trinity Area School District is a public school system near Washington, Pennsylvania. It serves Canton Township, South Strabane Township, North Franklin Township, and Amwell Township. The district covers about 87 square miles and serves about 26,000 people.
What it offers
- Population and education: About 88% of adults 25 and older are high school graduates, and about 22.8% have a college degree. In 2012, about 25% of students qualified for free or reduced-price meals. In 2013, 11 students were homeless.
- Schools: The district runs six schools:
- Trinity North Elementary
- Trinity East Elementary
- Trinity South Elementary
- Trinity West Elementary (all K–5)
- Trinity Middle School (6–8) with its own swimming pool
- Trinity High School (9–12)
- High school students can also attend the Western Area Career Technology Center (WACTC) for trades training
- Services: The Intermediate Unit IU1 provides various services, including special education and staff training.
History and notable sites
- The district’s name comes from the old Trinity Hall School for Boys (1879–1906).
- Trinity Hall’s North Franklin property became the high school site in 1925. The original classroom block operated from 1883 to 2004 and was demolished in 2006.
- The Spring Hill mansion on the property now houses the district’s administrative offices. The district also runs the Trinity Hall Museum, open by appointment.
