Sir Lewis Tonna Dibdin KC (1852–1938) was a leading English ecclesiastical lawyer and the Dean of the Arches, the Church of England’s top judge. He was the third son of Rev. Robert W. Dibdin of St. Giles’s, London, and studied at St John’s College, Cambridge, before training at Lincoln’s Inn. He became a King's Counsel in 1901 and built a large Chancery practice, gaining a reputation as an ecclesiastical lawyer. In 1903 he was knighted and appointed Dean of the Arches. He served as First Church Estates Commissioner from 1905 to 1931, sat on the Royal Commission on Divorce from 1909 to 1912, and was Vicar-General of the Province of Canterbury from 1925 to 1934. He retired in 1934 and died in 1938, buried at St. John’s Church, Dormansland, Surrey. He married Marianne Aubrey, daughter of Rev. H. S. Pinder, and they had three sons and two daughters.
