Tri-City Herald
The Tri-City Herald is a twice‑weekly newspaper based in Kennewick, Washington. It serves the Tri-Cities area — Kennewick, Pasco, and Richland — and is owned by The McClatchy Company.
The paper began in 1903 as the Pasco Express, founded by Elwyn P. Greene. It changed hands several times and was renamed the Pasco Herald in 1914. In 1947, after expanding to a daily edition, it became the Tri-City Herald.
Over the years, ownership shifted several times. In 1950, striking workers helped spark a competing daily in Pasco, the Columbia Basin News, which lasted until 1963. McClatchy bought the Herald in 1979. The paper switched from afternoon to morning publication in 1984 and added a Saturday edition in 1987.
In December 2022, the Herald moved to postal (mail) delivery and shifted its expanded Sunday edition to Saturday delivery. About a year later, print editions were reduced to twice weekly, published on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
As of 2020, the newspaper reported circulations of about 16,776 copies daily and 18,715 on Sundays.
Headquarters: 4253 W 24th Ave, #120, Kennewick, WA 99338.
