Tressan is a small rural commune in southern France, in the Occitanie region within the Hérault department. It sits on a hill in the Hérault Valley, on the road between Gignac and Pézenas. The area is drained by the Hérault and Dourbie rivers and is known for its natural heritage, including two protected natural areas.

The village covers 13.92 square kilometers and had a population of 683 people in 2023, giving a density of about 174 inhabitants per square kilometer. The landscape is mainly farmland, with most land used for agriculture and many permanent crops. Inhabitants are called Tressanais (men) and Tressanaises (women). Elevation ranges from 17 to 100 meters above sea level.

Tressan has a Mediterranean climate with hot, dry summers and plenty of sunshine (about 2,600 hours per year). Average temperatures are around 15°C, and annual rainfall is about 650–670 mm.

Governance and area: The mayor for 2020–2026 is Daniel Jaudon. Tressan is part of the Montpellier attraction area and is considered a commuter town, outside a major urban unit.
