Tragocephala variegata, the longhorn shoot borer, is a flat-faced beetle in the Cerambycidae family. It grows to about 17–26 mm long. Its elytra are yellow with irregular black markings, and the pronotum has a central longitudinal yellow stripe. It feeds on a variety of plants, including baobab (Adansonia digitata), Spanish cedar (Cedrela odorata), mango (Mangifera indica), cowpea (Vigna unguiculata), and Senegal mahogany (Khaya senegalensis). This species is found across much of southern and eastern Africa, including Angola, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Somalia, South Africa, Sudan, Tanzania, Zambia, and Zimbabwe, with occasional sightings in other Central African countries.
