Trachyrincidae
Trachyrincidae is a family of deep-sea fish in the order Gadiformes. It includes four genera: Idiolophorhynchus, Macrouroides, Trachyrincus, and Squalogadus. These fish live in the Atlantic, Indian, and Pacific Oceans and are found in deep water. They typically have a long, narrow, sharply pointed snout. Most species have a chin barbel (a small whisker on the chin), but in Macrouroides and Squalogadus the head is very large and rounded, the eyes are tiny, and the chin barbel is absent. The former subfamily Macrouroidinae is now considered part of Trachyrincidae.
