Torphichen and Bathgate Pipe Band
Torphichen and Bathgate Pipe Band is based in West Lothian, Scotland, and competes in Grade 2 of the Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association. The band was founded in 1902 as the Torphichen Pipe Band.
Tartan history: In the 1960s they switched from Green Hunting Stewart to Bruce, then in 1986 to Modern Skye, and in 2012 to Isle of Skye.
Leadership: The pipe major is William Brown and the drum sergeant is Callum Firth.
Key milestones:
- 1989: Won all major Grade 2 championships and moved up to Grade 1 for 1990, but soon returned to Grade 2; promoted again in 1994.
- 1996: Stopped competing.
- 2003: Gordon Stafford became pipe major for the second time.
- 2008: Won the Champion of Champions in Grade 2 for both piping and drumming, and was promoted to Grade 1.
- 2009–2010: Gordon Stafford left; Stuart Shedden became pipe major in 2010.
- 2011: A Novice Juvenile band was created.
- 2012: Tartans changed to Isle of Skye.
- 2013: Demoted to Grade 2.
- 2014: Won the Grade 2 World Championships.
- End of 2014: Pipe sergeant William Brown became pipe major.
