Top 20 GAA Moments
Top 20 GAA Moments was a TV poll that picked the best moments in Gaelic football and hurling from the TV era. In early 2005, Irish fans chose their favourite from 20 memorable moments from the last 40 years. The moments were chosen by ten RTÉ sports personalities and shown on the Sunday Sport programme. The No. 1 moment was revealed in a special programme on 7 May 2005, the day before the All-Ireland championships began. The show featured the ten judges—Des Cahill, Jim Carney, Ger Canning, Brian Carthy, Michael Lyster, Jimmy Magee, Marty Morrissey, Tony O'Donoghue, Micheál Ó Muircheartaigh and Darragh Maloney—and discussions with former players about the best moments. Because the programme was made in 2005, it does not include more recent highlights, such as Kevin Cassidy’s 2011 stoppage-time winner against Kildare or Michael Murphy’s early goal in the 2012 All-Ireland Final.
