Yūkichi Takeda
Yūkichi Takeda (武田祐吉) was a Japanese scholar of literature and a school teacher. He was born on May 5, 1886, in Nihonbashi, Tokyo (now part of Chūō Ward). He began teaching as a lecturer at Kokugakuin University in 1926. Takeda studied ancient Japanese texts, especially the Kojiki and the Man'yōshū. In 1950, he won the Japan Academy Prize for his work on the Man'yōshū. He died on March 29, 1958, aged 71.
