Todd Howard (American football)
Todd Howard, born February 18, 1965 in Bryan, Texas, is a former American football player and coach. He played linebacker in the NFL for the Kansas City Chiefs (1987–1988), Green Bay Packers (1989), and Los Angeles Rams (1990), and later for the Barcelona Dragons in the WLAF. He played college football at Texas A&M and was drafted in the third round of the 1987 NFL Draft, 73rd overall. He appeared in 19 NFL games and had one fumble recovery.
Howard began coaching after his playing days. He coached at Texas A&M (1991–1993) and Grinnell College (1994–1997), becoming Grinnell's defensive coordinator in 1996. He joined the St. Louis Rams as a defensive assistant (1998–1999) and won Super Bowl XXXIV with the team after the 1999 season. He then coached linebackers at Louisiana Tech (2000–2002), and held roles with the Jacksonville Jaguars (2003–2005), UCLA (2006–2010), Washington State (2011), and California (2012).
Howard moved to Canadian football, coaching Saskatchewan Roughriders (2013–2014) as defensive line coach and winning the Grey Cup in 2013. He later coached with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers (2015–2017) and the Montreal Alouettes (2018–2021), serving as defensive line coach and later linebackers coach before being relieved of his duties on September 26, 2021.
