Chardonel
Chardonel is a late-ripening white wine grape hybrid created in 1953 by the New York State Agricultural Experiment Station. It is an American hybrid that is 50% Seyval and 50% Chardonnay. The berries have white skins. Chardonel wines are known for high quality and distinctive varietal character, and the vines are vigorous, productive, and cold-hardy—even more so than Chardonnay. The vines produce green grapes in large clusters and are grown in the United States.
