Tinamou egg
Darwin's tinamou egg comes from a spotted nothura and is the only specimen from his HMS Beagle voyage still in his collection. The egg has a large crack because Darwin kept it in a box that was too small. In February 2009—marking the 200th anniversary of Darwin's birth—volunteer Liz Wetton rediscovered the egg while sorting the egg collection in the Zoology Museum at the University of Cambridge.
