Uganda men's national basketball team
Uganda’s national basketball team, nicknamed the Silverbacks, represents Uganda in international competitions. It is run by the Federation of Uganda Basketball Associations (FUBA) and is part of FIBA Africa. The team joined FIBA in 1963.
As of December 2, 2025, Uganda was ranked 90th in the world.
Uganda has competed in AfroBasket (the Africa Championship) three times. They made their debut in 2015 in Tunisia, where they earned their first win by beating Zimbabwe 72–64. In the AfroBasket 2021 qualifiers, they played in a group with Egypt, Morocco and Cape Verde. In AfroBasket 2021 in Rwanda, Uganda achieved its best result to date by reaching the quarterfinals before losing to Cape Verde.
The head coach is George Galanopoulos. The team has had rosters for AfroBasket 2015, AfroBasket 2017, and AfroBasket 2021.
