Thecodontosauridae is a small family of early long-necked dinosaurs, part of the early sauropodomorphs known as Bagualosauria. They lived in the Late Triassic, about 206 to 201 million years ago, with some uncertain evidence that they might have survived into the Early Jurassic. Fossils have been found only in the Magnesian Conglomerate near Bristol, England. The family contains two named genera, Thecodontosaurus and Agrosaurus, with Thecodontosaurus antiquus as the type species. Many scientists consider Agrosaurus to be the same animal as Thecodontosaurus. Thecodontosauridae was named by Lydekker in 1890.
